We are extremely grateful for their support!

The
Quaboag Highlanders
Pipes & Drums was formally organized on February 8, 2003. Prior to this date, it
existed only as a small group of accomplished pipers who lived in the
Monson, Massachusetts area, and who liked to pipe a couple of evenings a
week. After its formal organization, the group then took in about ten or so
other individuals who wanted to learn how to pipe, and a group of youngsters
who wanted to learn how to drum. Since many of the members don’t live in
Monson, but in adjoining towns, the group decided to name themselves after
the Quaboag Indians who once inhabited much of South Central Massachusetts,
and North Central Connecticut. |

We're
pleased to introduce to you
Celtic Thunder, the
first youth pipe band in Massachusetts. In their own words:
|
The Celtic Thunder Youth Pipe-Band is designed to have the
kids get involved with the pipe-band from day one.
In addition to learning to play the bagpipes or drums, kids
will also learn the values of teamwork, dedication,
responsibility and community service, all in a relaxed and
enjoyable atmosphere. Lessons are Free and open to anyone
between the ages of 8 and 18. Of course these ages are just
guide lines, so if your child is slightly younger and
willing to commit to practice, we do make allowances.
Parents wishing to learn the pipes or drums are also welcome
to receive Free instruction. It's pretty cool to be able to
take what you learn home and practice together with your
child.
The goal is to have members of the Youth Pipe-Band be the
Leaders of the band. In other words, the Pipe-Major will be
one of the kids, the Drum-Major will also be one of the kids
and so on. We will be there to instruct and guide the kids
every step of the way. |
